Meet Our Guides
Mark Grundon
Mark has been guiding from Alaska to Colorado for the last 16 years. He also currently splits his time between Yosemite National Park and El Potrero Chico. He also guides trips on Mexico's volcano Pico de Orizaba. He recently retired from ski patrol after seven winters to follow his deeper passion: climbing. Mark is a strong believer in “living the dream”, and following your passions whatever they may be. Mark enjoys sharing a rope with everyone from Yosemite rock stars to first time climbers. He has guided 7 successful summits of El Capitan. He has made one day ascents of El Cap and Half Dome in Yosemite. Mark has his EMT, a Leave No Trace trainer certification, is an Assistant AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Provider, AMGA Apprentice Alpine Guide, and AMGA Certified Rock Guide.
Chris Brey
Chris is an AMGA certified Rock Guide, Nationally Registered EMT, and Wilderness First Responder. Chris is from California where he has guided in some of the areas most iconic venues including Joshua Tree, the Southern Sierra, and Yosemite. He brings a calm, confident presence to the vertical world, combining technical expertise with a passion for teaching. Whether introducing new climbers to their first routes or refining advanced systems with seasoned experts, Chris creates a supportive and educational experience rooted in safety, efficiency, and respect for the mountains. Chris is excited to share El Potrero Chico's world-class limestone and vibrant climbing community with guests from around the world.
Evan King
Evan King has been guiding climbers since 2017 and brings 17 years of climbing experience to EPC Guides. An AMGA Assistant Rock Guide and Wilderness First Responder, he has explored many of the country’s premier climbing destinations. His Yosemite experience spans multiple ascents of El Capitan and the moderate classics he enjoys sharing with guests.
Originally from Oregon, Evan earned a degree in environmental studies before moving to Bend to pursue guiding at Smith Rock. His first visit to Yosemite Valley in 2018 included ascents of The Nose and Royal Arches—and sparked a lasting connection to the Valley.
A patient teacher, Evan enjoys helping climbers build skills and confidence while sharing his knowledge of local plants, wildlife, and geology. Whether you’re climbing solo, with friends, or as a family, Evan brings a thoughtful approach and a love of adventure to every day on the rock.
Alex Moss
Alex has always loved climbing of any sort, and fell in love with rock climbing at a young age through a climbing team in South Carolina. Since studying Outdoor Leadership at Warren Wilson College, he has loved helping people learn and play in the outdoors in many ways. After moving out west, he has broadened his skills from gyms and single pitch climbing to adventure climbing on high walls and peaks. Alex is motivated by climbing in new places, exploring new styles of climbing, and finding flow in new movements. As a guide, Alex aims to empower people by teaching new skills and encouraging them to do things they didn't know were possible for them. Alex also enjoys dance, absurdity, reading, and cooking with friends. Alex is an AMGA Assistant Rock Guide and and Aspirant Alpine guide and Wilderness First Responder.

What is the best time to climb?
The best climbing window is typically from early November through mid May. During these months, the limestone walls are dry and the temperatures are ideal for multi-pitch adventures.
Are the guides AMGA trained?
Yes, our guides are AMGA-trained for the terrain the operate in. We prioritize safety and technical proficiency, ensuring that every multi-pitch climb is led by a professional and experienced team.
What gear do I need to bring?
For multi-pitch climbing, you'll need a harness, helmet, and comfortable climbing shoes (also available to rent at no cost). We provide all other gear, including a rope, carabiners, and anchors, so you can focus on the climb.
Do you offer climbing classes?
Yes, we offer comprehensive climbing instruction for all levels. Whether you're learning your first multi-pitch or looking to refine your skills, our guides provide expert coaching.
How do I book a trip?
