Nine Day Trip

This trip will climb Pico de Orizaba (18,500ft), and Iztaccihuatl (17,300 ft) and La Malinche (14,600 ft)

The climbs will be over a nine day period giving your body plenty of days to acclimate before we climb the third tallest peak in North America.  We will start our trip in Mexico City in the historic Reforma part of the city close to the famous Zocalo.  From there we head to Malinche to start our acclimatization process.  We will stay in cabins used by atheletes in Mexico who are training at altitude.

After Malinche we will head to Iztaccihuatl.  The broad ridged peak is the seventh highest peak in North America.  We will make oure way along the ridges false summits until we reach the "knees" summit via the Arista del Sol route.

Moving on from Izta we take a rest day exploring the markets of Puebla and visit the Cholula Pyramid.  Now we head towards our big goal Orizaba, with a 12 mile 4wd ride to base camp at the Piedra Grande Hut at 14,000 feet.  The climb of Orizaba goes up moderately steep slopes on the Jamapa Glacier.  We will review all the mountaineering techniques required to climb the mountain.  This trip is a great first international expedition.
